A friendly T20 cricket match played between Virtual University of Pakistan and Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication (MoITT) at XI Start Cricket Ground Islamabad on 13th Jan, 2018. VU Team won the match by 25 runs after a tough competition.

M. Javed Younis was the captain of VU Team whereas Javed Iqbal was leading the Ministry of IT & Telecommunication (MoITT) team. MoITT team won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Mudassar Rafiq and Ahmer Saeed Qazi opened the innings aggressively. Opening partnership of 147 runs set the platform for a big total. Mudassar Rafiq got out after scoring wonderful 83 runs with 14 fours and 1 six. In search of quick runs, 3 wickets fell quickly. Ahmer Saeed Qazi after scoring 43 runs retired hurt. Waqar Latif finished the innings with blitzing 13 balls 37. VU Team scored 217/5 in 20 overs. Javed Iqbal taking 3 wickets and Saifullah with 1 wicket were only successful bowlers.

In reply, MoITT team openers started the innings aggressively. The partnership was broken by Ali Ahsan with the help of a brilliant catch taken by Asad Tahir when Mr. Waheed got out after scoring quick 25 runs in just 11 balls. Mr. Mumtaz took the crease accompanied by Mr. Javed Iqbal and set up a threatening partnership. The partnership was broken by Naseer Ahmad when he got wicket of Mr. Javed Iqbal who scored 37 runs. In the next over, Ali got Mr. Mumtaz out with a special ball combined with a fine catch by the wicket keeper Mudassar Rafiq. Mr. Mumtaz scored a brilliant half century.

64 runs were required in last 5 overs and match seemed to be well balanced. At the moment, Mr. Faisal Habib bowled a tight over taking 2 wickets and giving away only 4 runs. The match slipped away further from MoITT team with the tight bowling of Waqar Latif and Ali Ahsan. MoITT team ended up scoring 192/7 in 20 overs. Ali Ahsan got 3 wickets, Faisal Habib 2 whereas Waqar Latif and Naseer Ahmad got 1 wicket each.
