SAARC Basic Technical Training Course on Power System Planning and Analysis through Distance Learning

 

                

 

 

Course Description and Lesson Plan

 

Introduction

In the quest of achieving and sustaining economic power dispatch, transmission adequacy and reliability, the role of power system analysts and planners can’t be over emphasized. Enhancing competence of the relevant professionals is thus the fundamental pre-requisite for managing a well-equipped professional work force in the field of power system. However, the training opportunities to serve this purpose are rare, expensive and require the professionals to leave their desks and attend formal training sessions. The SAARC Basic Technical Training Course on Power System Planning and Analysis through Distance Learning has been developed to address these challenges. The basic course will comprise of video recorded lectures covering essential electrical concepts and basics of power system analysis along with case studies and documentaries. The course will serve the purpose of capacity building of the ever-busy power system analysts and planners while enabling time flexibility and online access.


Target Audience

The basic and advance course are for energy professionals who are interested in building expertise in the challenging field of power system analysis and planning. For enrolment in the course, a candidate must hold an engineering degree (16 years education or higher) or is a final year engineering student. Candidates with 3 years diploma in engineering are also eligible.


How it works

Participants will register for the course online. The registration fee will be payable online or through bank using printable fee voucher available for the registrants online.  Once registered, the course lectures and presentations will be accessible to the enrolled students at LMS portal of Virtual University Pakistan at http://vulms.vu.edu.pk. The recommended course duration is one month with weekly workload of four hours comprising two hours of recorded lectures and two hours of self-study. However, the candidates will be free to finish the course work and a final MCQ based online exam within their convenient time schedule in one academic semester. Upon successful completion of the course, the participants will be able to download an electronically verifiable version of the course certificate.
