Dr. Muhammad Tariq Pervez joined Virtual University of Pakistan in the Department of Computer Science (DCS) in 2005. He served DCS till 2014 by leading software project section and supervised several students of BSCS, BSIT, MCS and MSCS to complete their final year projects/ thesis. Currently, he is serving in the capacity of Associate Professor (Bioinformatics) in the Department of Biological Sciences.
Dr. Tariq obtained the degree of Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from university of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore, Pakistan in 2014. He obtained the degree of MS in computer sciences (MSCS) with the specialization of software engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore in 2010. He did MCS from University of Agriculture Faisalabad in 2001.
He worked as software engineer in software industry from 2001 to 2005 with the specialization in Java and Java2EE. He also performed responsibility as Senior Research Officer in an open source project titled as ‘Integration of Open Source Software Projects in IT Education’ from 2008 to 2010. As Senior Research Officer, he contributed in ADempiere ERP, an open source enterprise level java based project by developing use cases, sequence and class diagrams of various modules, fixing various bugs and developing a lot of features of the ADempiere ERP. He has more than 70 publications on various technical subjects in the domains of Bioinformatics and Machine Learning in international as well as local HEC recognized journals. |
