Introduction of the Department

The Department of Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies at the Virtual University of Pakistan is dedicated to advancing excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship through the integrated study of Islam, Pakistan's history, constitutional development, politics, and national identity. The department offers the BS Islamic Studies degree program, which provides students with a rigorous academic foundation in both classical and contemporary Islamic scholarship. The curriculum encompasses Qur'anic Studies, Hadith, Fiqh, Seerah, Islamic History, Islamic Thought, Comparative Religion, and contemporary issues confronting Muslim societies.
