Dr. Sidra Abbas, Lecturer in Sociology at the Department of Sociology, Virtual University of Pakistan, successfully represented the University at the III International Congress of Young Academics of the Turkic World, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 10–13 May 2026. The conference participation was secured through a partially funded competitive award, recognizing the academic merit and research potential of the presented work.
During the congress, Dr. Abbas delivered an in-person research presentation at Khazar University under the theme “Inter-Religious Interaction between Muslim and Christian Healthcare Workers in Pakistan.” The study explored the dynamics of religious diversity, workplace collaboration, mutual respect, and social cohesion among healthcare professionals in Pakistan’s multicultural healthcare settings. The research highlighted the importance of interfaith understanding and inclusive professional environments in strengthening healthcare delivery and promoting peaceful coexistence.
The congress brought together emerging scholars, researchers, and academics from across the Turkic world and beyond, providing an excellent platform for international scholarly exchange, networking, and collaboration. Participation in this prestigious event enhanced the global visibility of the Department of Sociology and showcased the quality of research being conducted at Virtual University of Pakistan.
