9th Convocation of Virtual University held at Sialkot

Virtual University of Pakistan commemorated 9th convocation for its students from north-east of Punjab at Golf View Hall, Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Road in Sialkot. A total of 731 students were conferred degrees for the successful completion of various degree programs. Gold medals and merit certificates were also awarded to outstanding graduates. An audience included parents, members of faculty, eminent personalities from academia, corporate and public sector.

The convocation was declared open by Dr. Naveed A Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan. While addressing on this auspicious occasion he welcomed all the guests and thanked all participants for gracing the auspicious event with their presence. He further highlighted the achievements of Virtual University, its leading role in delivering information and communication technology based education and contribution in the provision of quality education even to the remotest areas of the country. He said VU is promoting research culture among its students.  He said that three international conferences have been arranged last year and told that a fully equipped mobile laboratory project for life sciences student is underway, that will provide lab facility across Pakistan.

He further added that Virtual University of Pakistan achieved another milestone by winning the DigiSkills training project that is designed to train one million people of the country. Virtual University has been selected to execute this mega DigiSkills Training Project of Government of Pakistan. He said that this training program will help bring in valuable foreign exchange into the country, and more importantly, reduce unemployment as new jobs will be created.

Addressing the audience, Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Najma Najam, ex-Vice Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Women University said that Virtual University has a distinctly reputed place in the list of top national universities. Addressing the students she stressed all graduates to strive above the challenges through merit, diligence, humanity and integrity.

Prof. Dr. Najma Najam, along with Dr. Naveed A Malik distributed medals and awards to the high achievers to celebrate dedication in their respective disciplines.
