Virtual university hosted a one-day seminar on livestock genetic improvement

Provincial Minister Sardar Hasnain Bahadar Dreshak attended the seminar as chief guest.

Seminar was attended by officers of Livestock and Virtual university as well as professors and scientist of animal sciences from all over Pakistan.

Participants included, Additional secretary Dr. Iqbal shahid, Dr. Mansoor Ahmad DG Extension, Dr. Shahid DG Production, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal DG Research, Dr. Asif sahi Director Breed improvement, Dr. Arif Director Communication, Dr Johar Ali member Animal Sciences Agriculture research council, Dr. Maqsood Chief Research officer Buffalo research institute Patoki, Dr. Tanveer In charge Department of molecular biology Virtual university, Dr. Riaz BZU Multan, Prof. Dr. Waseem, Prof. Dr. Khalid Javed UVAS, Dr. Asif Nadeem UVAS and Dr. Salahuddin Riffah Lahore.

Ex Vice chancellor University of Veterinary and animal sciences Lahore Dr. Nawaz gave an introductory lecture on importance of animal and Veterinary sciences.

Dean Faculty of Science and Technology Virtual University of Pakistan Dr. Masroor Ilahi Babar throw some light on virtual university’s research on livestock, he also informs the audience that how can we modernize our livestock department and take benefit from International research on animal Sciences. Provincial minister Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dareshk visited different departments of Virtual University.

Mr. Naeem Tariq Rector Virtual University briefed about different aspects of University; he also narrates that In Virtual University about 1200 students in every semester enrolled from outside Pakistan.

Provincial Minister Praised virtual university’s active participation in field of education. During visit to Virtual University TV he was impressed by the quality of lecture recording and content of Virtual University. Provincial Minister further said that facility of DNA testing in livestock department is the need of hour. He also congratulates Virtual University on successfully conducting the test of genes regarding extra growth of goat and sheep breeding.

Virtual University is successfully conducting a high-level research on increasing milk and meat production through its genomic department. First time in the history of Pakistan Virtual University organized a high-level meeting between livestock and Dairy development department officers and high-level educational researches and professors of livestock. The purpose of this meeting was to develop a liaison through which educational experts and professional experts of life stock can give expert opinion to draw a road map for development of live-stock department in Pakistan. This road map will be given to provincial minister. And provincial minister gave assurance that following this road map all the necessary actions will be taken to increase milk and meat production in our country.
