ICITL Concluding Ceremony

Two-day international conference concludes at VU

A two-day international conference titled “Innovations in Teaching and Learning” (ICITL) concluded at Virtual University of Pakistan on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. The objective of the conference was to improve trends, practices and perspectives in Education. It provided a forum to investigate and share observations, practices, experiences and research about current educational trends. Moreover, conference also focused on the impact of information communication technology (ICT) on education, and how innovations and practices may be adopted in teaching-learning.

A total of 9 keynote speeches and 54 papers split over in 9 parallel sessions were presented in two days. The conference sessions evolved around a series of themes including Innovations in Education, Teacher Education, Education for Peace and Sustainable Development, Equity and Equality in Education, Trends and Issues in Educational Assessment and Evaluation, Educational Leadership: Governance and Policy, Educational Quality: Perspective and Prospective, Improving School Culture and Environment, Diversity in Educational Opportunities and Related Issues and E-Learning: How it is changing teaching learning landscape.

The keynote speakers that delivered lectures included Prof. Dr. Ong Eng Tek Professor Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Sultan Azlan Shah Campus, Malaysia, Dr. Muhammad Zohair Sains University, Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Irshad Farrukh Secretary NACTE, Lahore, Dr. Irfan Rind Head Department of Education, IBA, Sukkar. Dr. Song Huan, Vice Director Institute of Teacher Education, Beijing Normal University, China, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Memon Prof. (Rtd) IED, AKU, Chairman BISE Hyderabad, Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani Director Directorate of Distance Education, IIU, Islamabad, and Prof. Dr. Kamal-ud-Din Director NEAS, Islamabad. Prof. Dr. Victor Nolet from Department of Secondary Education, West Washington University, participated through video link from USA.

Prof. Dr. Nizamuddin, Chairperson, Punjab Higher Education Commission graced the event as chief guest on first day whereas Shahid Hafeez Kardar, Vice Chancellor, Beaconhouse National University was the chief guest on the second day of the conference.

Addressing the concluding ceremony, Dr. Naveed A. Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan thanked everyone involved in making ICITL a great success. He expressed his appreciation of the support provided by academic institutions and sponsors. The conference was attended by a large number of dignitaries, educationists, intellectuals, business executives, government representatives, representatives of the corporate world and scholars of various academic institutions. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of shields, souvenirs and certificates for the organizers of the Conference.
