He is an experienced media professional and academician with over 17 years of diverse experience in broadcast, production, and teaching. He began his career as a broadcaster with Radio Pakistan in 2005 and went on to work with several FM stations, lending his voice to hundreds of commercials, jingles, documentaries, and promotional campaigns. Over the years, he contributed to renowned media houses, including Serendip TV Productions and Key Chain Films, before joining Samaa TV Group, where he supervised both TV and radio operations. Later, he played a key role in establishing and managing the television and radio setups at Foundation University.
In 2022, Mr. Abbas joined the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) to pursue his academic career, where he continues to teach and supervise media projects. Alongside his teaching, he has remained actively engaged in disaster communication, having worked with First Response Radio, a global network specializing in radio-based disaster response.
He holds an MSc in Mass Communication from NUML and an MS in Media & Communication from IIUI. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in Media and Communication Studies with a research focus on community radio, disaster preparedness, and the empowerment of rural communities in Pakistan. His areas of academic interest include broadcast journalism, media production, development communication, and the role of media in social change. |
