Dr. Nida Ayaz is a dedicated educator and researcher from Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, specializing in Educational Psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in the field, with her research primarily focused on metacognition—particularly metacognitive awareness, its role in academic achievement, and the application of metacognitive strategies to enhance students' reading comprehension. She is an accomplished presenter at international academic conferences and has also contributed as both a reviewer and author, including book chapters and journal publications. A winner of provincial speech competitions, Dr. Ayaz is recognized for her strong communication skills and academic leadership. Dr. Ayaz has completed specialized training with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). She currently serves as the Champion of the Climate Action Fellowship 2024—a collaborative initiative of the U.S. Embassy and Aga Khan University—through which she leads environmental awareness and sustainability projects across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In addition to her academic work, Dr. Ayaz is the author of The Last Valley, a piece of environmental fiction, and is an active columnist and blogger for IBC English. She is also undergoing training with the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE), further enhancing her professional credentials in education. Her diverse experience in research, environmental advocacy, and educational innovation reflects her commitment to meaningful academic and community impact.

Improving Classroom Learning Environment for Enhancing Reading Comprehension through Metacognitive Strategies

This study investigated the role of metacognitive strategies in improving classroom learning environment. The study also find out the effects of metacognitive strategies in developing student’s interest in reading comprehension. Action research was adopted by selecting grade fifth thirty students (age 10-11 years). WIHIC interview and documentation were used for collection of data. Data was analyzed through reflections and content analysis. Data showed improvement in learning environment of classroom for reading comprehension of the students.
