A three-member delegation from Universitas Terbuka, Indonesia, visited multiple offices and campuses of the Virtual University of Pakistan (VU) to explore academic collaboration and innovative education models.
The visit began at VU’s Lawrence Road Office, where the delegation toured academic departments across all five faculties and held meetings with Heads of Departments. A detailed briefing on VU’s education system was shared, followed by discussions on how VU’s asynchronous learning model could support other universities.
The delegation then visited the M.A. Jinnah Campus, where they toured the Mobile Bio Lab and VU TV Department. Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain briefed the guests on the Mobile Bio Lab initiative, highlighting how it enables students from remote areas to complete practical work without traveling long distances. At the VU TV Department, Dr. Baber Ali explained the complete mechanism of recording and broadcasting video lectures, allowing students to access quality education from their homes.
During their visit to the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), the delegation was briefed on VU’s research vision, grant opportunities, Professional Development Center (PDC) training programs, and the Student Startup Business Center (SSBC). The delegation also visited the Information Access Center (IAC), which supports digital learning, hands-on training, and student-led startups.
The visit concluded with mutual appreciation and a shared commitment to strengthening academic cooperation and knowledge exchange between the two institutions.
