Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) organized an orientation session on Intellectual Property Rights on January 10, 2019. Head of the Departments and nominated persons from different departments attended the session. Dr. Fayyaz Ahmad, Controller of Patents & Registrar of Designs, IPO Karachi was the resource person for this session. He highlighted the different aspects of patents, copyrights and trademarks and presented overview of the concepts by relating it with different examples.  He also expounded the IP rights a researcher has on his/her inventions and innovations. In the end, the Rector Virtual University of Pakistan appreciated this initiative and advised to organize multiple awareness sessions/ workshops regarding intellectual property rights (IPR) in VU.
