IAEA equipped VU Biotechnology Department with Advance Equipment

International Atomic Energy Agency equipped Virtual University’s Biotechnology department with equipment worth Rs 2.05 Million

 

The IAEA maintains several specialist laboratories that support its activities, develop innovative technologies and provide training. They also offer several important technical and analytical services to member states and other laboratories, ranging from providing reference material to the calibration of equipment and testing of services.

Prof. Dr. Masroor Ellahi Babar, Dean, Faculty of Science & Technology, Virtual University of Pakistan collaborated with Dr. Kathiravan Periasamy from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Vienna, Austria for the betterment of Biotechnology department. In this connection Dr. Tanveer Hussain, Head of Biotechnology Department worked there and recently Mr. Kamran Abbas, Tutor Molecular Biology is on research training in the same lab.

To strengthen the laboratory facilities at Virtual University of Pakistan, IAEA collaborator has gifted advanced Equipment worth Rs 2.05 Million. These include Micropipette sets, RFID Reader Antenna, Ear Tag Applicator, RFID Ear Tags, Mini PCR Plate centrifuge, Vortex, Spinner Centrifuges (Sprout Minicentrifuge) and consumables.

A ceremony was held at VU Head Office for handing over IAEA equipment to VU Bio Science department. Rector, Virtual University of Pakistan appreciated the contributions of Prof. Dr. Masroor Ellahi Babar and Bioscience department for effectively representing and earning recognition for the Virtual University at National & International level.
