Virtual University 9th Convocation held at Islamabad

The President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain conferred degrees to the graduating students during the 9th Convocation of VU at Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad.


Virtual University of Pakistan commemorated its 9th Convocation at Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad. A total of 1356 students were conferred degrees for the successful completion of various degree degree programs, 13 gold medals and 43 merit certificates were also awarded to outstanding graduates. The President of Pakistan and Chancellor Virtual University of Pakistan His Excellency Mamnoon Hussain graced the occasion as the chief guest. Audience included parents, members of faculty and eminent personalities from academia.


The convocation was declared open by the Chancellor Virtual University of Pakistan, President Mamnoon Hussain. Addressing the audience, Dr. Naveed A. Malik, Rector welcomed the guests and thanked the President for gracing the event with his presence. In his welcome address Dr. Naveed A. Malik highlighted the achievements of Virtual University, its leading role in delivering education through communication technology and contributing in the provision of quality education to the remotest areas of the country.

Addressing the convocation, the President said education was the means to raise the moral, ethical and educational stature of the students and added that education played a key role in the progress and development of a nation. He further asked the learning institutions to ensure provision of high quality teaching to enable the students meet challenges of tomorrow. The President told the graduating students to continue their struggle for higher education throughout their lives, as it would help them succeed in any endeavor they undertake. He said it was a tried and tested way and ensures that the process of learning never ends.


President Mamnoon Hussain said for the countries with large population, it was nothing less than a challenge to ensure provision of quality education.
He said the Virtual University had performed its national obligation to provide quality education across the country. He said the educational institutions should never compromise on the quality of education and must be self-reliant as using the research of other countries may not be meet local requirements.

The President said he was pleased to meet the students of the Virtual University  and congratulated them, their parents and teachers on their success. He was particularly appreciative of the parents who struggled hard to ensure that their children get good quality education. He assured the Rector of Virtual University Dr. Naveed A. Malik of his full support in the resolution of their outstanding issues. The President, along with Dr. Naveed A. Malik distributed medals and awards to the high achievers to celebrate dedication in their respective disciplines.
