Accreditation Status of Computing Degree Programs of Virtual University of Pakis....
Published On:  Tuesday, April 2, 2024

Dear Students,

The National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) is established by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan with the aim of accrediting bachelor-level computing degree programs offered by both public and private sector universities in the country.

NCEAC accredits each batch of students enrolled in computing degree programs separately for each university, whether public or private.

The accreditation status of Virtual University is currently being discussed in the NCEAC General Council due to its online nature, as indicated by the notice published on the NCEAC website.

In the meantime, HEC will continue to attest degrees from Virtual University. NCEAC is actively developing evaluation criteria for accrediting online degree programs following the announcement of the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) policy. Once these criteria are finalized, NCEAC will start accrediting online computing degree programs.

According to information available on the NCEAC website, numerous public and private sector universities including Virtual University have yet to accredit all of their student batches. In such cases, NCEAC may require students who have completed degrees from these universities but were not accredited by NCEAC to take a competency test. Students who successfully pass this test will then receive accreditation from NCEAC.
