Associate Degree in Mathematics

Introduction

An Associate Degree program in mathematics is a two-year post-intermediate or similar academic degree that is divided into four semesters. AD in Mathematics is skill-oriented and specifically designed to attract students who are looking for a fast-track entry into the workforce, wanting to continue in a four-year degree program, or investigating alternative specializations in order to clarify their professional ambitions.

Objectives

  1.  Provide a solid foundation in mathematical theory and practical problem-solving skills.
  2. Foster skill development in data handling and computation for real-world applications.
  3. Equip students with a strong academic foundation for a seamless transition to a 4-year BS degree in mathematics or related fields.
  4. Enable graduates to secure entry-level positions in educational, technical, and analytical roles within the job market.

Eligibility Criteria

  1.  Candidates who have passed 12 years of education with mathematics having minimum 45% marks (Intermediate / A -level / I. Com / DAE or equivalent relevant qualification).
  2. Candidates who have passed 12 years of education with mathematics having less than 45% marks but have more than 50% marks in mathematics (Intermediate / A -level / I. Com / DAE or equivalent relevant qualification).
  3. Candidates who have passed 12 years of education with mathematics having less than 45% marks and less than 50% marks in mathematics (Intermediate / A -level / I. Com / DAE or equivalent relevant qualification) shall be eligible subjected to the qualification of customized zero semester with CGPA 2.0/4.0.
  4. Candidates who have passed 12 years of education without mathematics having minimum 45% marks (Intermediate / A -level / I. Com / DAE or equivalent relevant qualification) shall be eligible but they must study an extra course in mathematics as a deficiency offered by the department.

Assessment Criteria

The students’ study progress evaluation mechanism is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving assignments, quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), mid-term, and final term examinations. The following table shows further detail of the assessment.

Award of Degree

To be eligible for the award of Associate Degree in Mathematics, a student is required to earn the required credit hours with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.
