Introduction

The 2 years/2.5 years BS program in Accounting and Finance is meticulously structured to empower students to excel in a rapidly evolving, global business and financial environment. It is prioritizes the development of essential interpersonal, ICT, and communication skills, providing hands-on experience through a rigorous capstone project and internship. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) enrolled students can seamlessly join and receive well-deserved exemptions for completed courses. Additionally, the program rigorously fosters ethical citizenship, social inclusivity, and professionalism, making a point to emphasize digital literacy and communication skills. Graduates can confidently anticipate a solid foundation for a successful career in accounting and finance and the readiness for advanced study.

Objectives

The program aims the students to:

  1. Learn and understand theoretical concepts of accounting and finance.
  2. Develop an understanding of using appropriate computational techniques, resources, and ICT tools to solve contemporary issues in the subject fields.
  3. Critically analyze the problems, devise and evaluate solution alternatives in the accounting and finance areas with their practical implications which affect managerial decision making in an organizational setting.
  4. Understand corporate decisions' impact on health, safety, legal compliance, and the environment for sustainable development.
  5. Be proficient communicator in giving instructions and writing reports in complex corporate matters involving business and society.
  6. Develop a strong foundation for ethical and responsible citizenship, fostering social inclusivity, ethical practices, and peaceful coexistence in a diverse society.
  7. Develop and apply foundational professional skills in digital literacy, communication, writing, and
  8. entrepreneurship to facilitate lifelong learning and career development.
  9. Enable to get admission to higher level degree programs such as MS/PhD ranging from accounting to audit, and banking to finance in the country and abroad.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants with a 2-year Associate Degree in the same discipline (from an HEC-recognized institution) will be able to join the 5th semester of a BS program. Those with an Associate Degree in a different discipline or a conventional BA/BSc degree (annual system) must complete a bridging semester/deficiency semester to address academic deficiencies.

The minimum admission eligibility is a 2.00/4.00 CGPA for Associate Degree holders (semester system) or 45% marks for BA/BSc or equivalent (annual system). The University may set higher standards for specific programs.

Assessment Criteria

The students study progress evaluation mechanism is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving assignments, quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), mid-term and final-term examinations.

Award of Degree

To be eligible for the award BS degree, the students are required to complete prescribed course work of 63 credit hours with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 out of 4.

Project / Internship / Practicals

Students are required to complete a capstone project and internship courses of 3 credit hours each to complete the degree requirement.
