e-Webinar Series-5: Ethical Usage and Policies for AI

The Faculty of Education, in collaboration with the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), Virtual University of Pakistan, successfully conducted the last session of its ongoing e-Webinar series titled “The Future of Education and Research with AI: Tools, Trends, and Ethics.” The session, “Ethical Usage and Policies for AI,” was held on November 27, 2025. Dr. Sabeen Qamar served as the Resource Person, while Ms. Tanzeela Alam and Dr. Nida Ayaz moderated the session, ensuring active engagement and meaningful discussion.

The organizing team contributed to the smooth execution of the event. The webinar involved around 200–250 participants including faculty members, research scholars, and students from Pakistan and abroad. All the participants reflected widespread interest in AI applications in future research and academics. The session began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by opening remarks from Dr. Sumbal Asghar, Head of Department and Chief Organizer for e-webinar series. She appreciated the efforts of the organizing team, IT support team, and Virtual University leadership. She emphasized the importance of the e-Webinar series that aims to equip educators, researchers and faculty members with knowledge and tools to learn AI for innovation and academic excellence.

Dr. Sabeen Qamar presented an in-depth exploration of Ethical Usage and Policies for AI in academia as well as in research. She highlighted policy matters that address the ethical limits of AI usage to enhance research productivity and understanding. Use of Menti-meter and Padlet enabled participants to engage and discuss their point of view with the presenter smoothly.

Pre- and post-session assessments measured participants’ understanding, engagement, and interactive discussions provided insights into participants to rethink their usage of AI in emerging trends and technologies.

Mr. Muhammad Saqib recorded the participants' queries and presented them in the QA sessions. Dr. Aziz Ahmad thanked the university administration including registrar (Prof. Dr.  Ather Azim Khan), ORIC (Professor Dr. Tanveer Hussain) and ICT (Mr. Ehsen Zaffar Puri) offices.

In the closing remarks, Dr. Sabeen Qamar thanked the participants for their continuous contributions and acknowledged the overall organizing team of e- Webinar series. She emphasized the importance of enhancing AI literacy in research competence as well as in academia among educators and scholars to meet the opportunities and challenges of the digital era.
